Ok, so I got my new headset (the FREETALK(R) Stereo Headset (Buddy Pack)) and they say it's Mac compatible but it's the same story as the old one. I plugged the one plug into the headphone jack and the other one into the microphone jack. I went into the system preferences and set the device to line in. I checked the volume and it's fine. I tried recording with TapeDeck but it didn't recognise the microphone. So I went on skype and called my mobile phone still no luck. I checked the skype preferences and built-in line-in was selected. There were no models listed, only that one and the internal microphone. I figured this would be the easier way, since there's no software to install as there would be with a usb device. The odd thing is that I can use my patch cord with a y adaptor and headphones to tape what's going on in the computer, i.e. music. So I know the audio input jack works. It's just not recognising this microphone. My boyfriend's an electronics engineer (different from electric) but he doesn't know anything about computers other than the real basics on how to go online etc. Still, I wonder if he can replace the wire that leads into the microphone with a patch cord wire or if they use different signals
> etc? I'll have to have him check the polarity and see if that's the problem. I'm just really annoyed cause they said this thing was plug
> and play and that it works with Mac. It feels nice on my ears and has a great sound and yet I can't use the microphone portion of it.
As a sidenote, I also got the Plantronics 345 model instead of the 625 because I accidentally ordered the wrong one and am probably gonna sell it since it's not Mac compatible and I hear Skype customer service is horrible.
Anyway, help would be seriously appreciated. Thanks in advance.
